I've listened to the song a bunch and am no closer to gleaning it's meaning but each time I listen I like it more and more. Romantic's "America" (2024 Records)

I've been trying to absorb and process the song "The National Side" by Romantica for a week or so. I thought the song was about international soccer with a line about playing for the national side and another about hoisting the FA Cup. I've listened to the song a bunch and am no closer to gleaning it's meaning but each time I listen I like it more and more. (Edit: I've since learned that the lead singer's mom played on "the national side" for Ireland's women's field hockey team)

Romantica's (originally from Ireland) sophomore release, America, was just released on the Minneapolis record label 2024 Records and you can catch them playing Chicago on June 19 at Schubas with Ben Weaver and Ezra Fuhrman. I love this song and the whole record is a great example of lush, americana-infused rock.
